New Puppy Checklist
Bringing home a new puppy is a very fun time! Not having the right supplies can make it stressful. Get off to a great start with the right stuff! Here is a New Puppy Checklist we put together to get you started!
Essentials:
* Collar and Leash: While your puppy may still be a bit small to actually walk on a leash, it's never too soon to get them started.
* Crate: We suggest a large crate that has a divider. They don't stay in the same size crate for very long and buying a large one with a divider will save you money in the long run.
(We highly suggest crate training. There are many, many benefits to it, see the crate training section for more information about it.)
*Puppy Food: We send home a small bag of what they're eating to get them started. Have a bag of whatever you are planning on feeding them.
(Please see "What type of food should I feed my puppy for more info.)
*Puppy bowls
*Chew Toys: I will put this on the list of needs, not wants. Puppies chew ALOT. If you don't want your favorite things chewed on, have toys on to direct them to if they start chewing on the wrong things.
*Nail clippers: Rub your puppies feet and touch them everyday. It will make clipping a full grown Labrador's nails a whole lot easier.
All the extra fluff
* Puppy Bed: I would wait to add it to the crate until they show they can make it between potty breaks, but having the bed out so they can get used to it is good.
*Bitter Apple Spray: You can spray on things that you don't want them chewing on (usually furniture safe- Check the label)
*Treats: Training goes a lot easier with yummy treats. (BTW: the way to a lab's heart is through its tummy!)
